COVID-19 Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Under the direction and guidance of LAUSD, O’Melveny continues to monitor daily updates regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). O’Melveny is implementing the following safety measures daily:

  • Have all students and personnel thoroughly wash their hands through-out the day.
  • Restock soap and towel dispensers in the classrooms.
  • Disinfect all student restrooms and all high touch areas such as:  drinking fountains, sinks, hand rails, door knobs, lunch tables, and staff lounge.
  • Dispose of trash, restock soap and paper supplies in student and adult restrooms.
  • Provide hand sanitizers in common areas such as: school library and computer labs and disinfect computer key boards.
  • Sanitize the main office including the nurse’s area.
  • Cancelled in-person gatherings such as: Student Award’s Assemblies, Career Day Speakers and Parade, and Open House.
  • Send home students with a fever of 100.4 or higher and have them stay home until they are without a fever and medication for at least 24 hours.
 

The decision to close a school comes directly from the district’s Superintendent, Mr. Austin Beutner. O’Melveny is prepared to provide instructional resources to families in the event that we are directed to close our school. Notification will be sent via: email, text, and will be posted on the school’s website  and social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).

Bajo la dirección de LAUSD, O’Melveny continua monitoreando las actualizaciones diarias con respecto al Cornavirus (COVID-19). O’Melveny implementa diariamente las siguientes medidas de seguridad:

  • Hacemos que todos los estudiantes y el personal se laven bien las manos durante el día.
  • Reponemos los dispensadores de jabón y toallas de papel en las aulas.
  • Desinfectamos todos los baños de estudiantes y todas las áreas de alto contacto, tales como: bebederos, lavamos, pasamanos, pomos de las puertas, mesas de almuerzo y salon del personal.
  • Deschamos la basura y reponemos los suministros de jabón y papel en los baños de estudiantes y adultos.
  • Proporcionamos desinfectantes para las manos en áreas communes tales como: la biblioteca escolar y los laboratorios de computación y desinfectamos los teclados.
  • Disinfectamos la oficina principal, incluyendo el área de enfermería.
  • Reuniones CANCELADAS tales como: Aseambleas de Premios Estudiantiles, Día de la Carrera, Desfile de Carreras y Casa Abierta.
  • Enviamos a casa a los estudiantes con fiebre de 100.4 o más y que se queden en casa hasta que no tengan fiebre y medicamento por al menos de 24 horas.
 

La decision de cerrar una escuela proviene directamente del Superintendente del distrito, el Sr. Austin Beutner. O’Melveny está preparada para proporcionar recursos de instrucción a las familias en caso de que se nos indique que cerremos nuestra escuela. La notificación se enviará por correro electrónico, mensaje de texto y se publicará en el sitio web de la escuela.

Coronavirus Prevention

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) is asking for your assistance to prepare for and help prevent the spread of the novel (new) coronavirus in Los Angeles County. Globally, there continues to be a growing number of people infected with this virus which causes “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated COVID-19) in mainland China and elsewhere. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, current global trends indicate that the virus may spread worldwide causing a pandemic. We need to prepare to prevent the spread of this infection locally.
